Hi All,
Getting bored with our regular day to day IT professional life, we again decided to get on our bikes, and go out in search of some more action. After trimming all possibilities, and cancelling a few more, we decided on Torna fort to be the destination of the day. Torna trek is supposed to be medium difficulty level, and we spent our final days leading up to it planning it out meticulously. All was well till the night earlier, when 2 of the 4 members cancelled out on us. Not ready to back down at this, the 2 of us decided to go ahead with it anyways.
On the morning of 12th of February, we started out at 6:30 a.m. I picked up Swapnil from his residence at Vishrantwadi, and off we went. We followed the Pune-Bangalore NH4 highway. The road was awesome, and we stopped just at the initial phases to click some snaps with the rising sun as the background.
After that, we carried on in search of the McDonanld that we knew was located somewhere on the highway. True to our sources, we soon came across the same very soon. We had our fill of breakfast, and we knew this was the last good meal which would be lasting us throughout the trek. Anyways, soon after wards, we set off for our final strech of the road to Torna. We had initially estimated the total distance to be somewhere near 80 kms, but we hardly knew that a lot of surprises were held in store for us. Just as we went off the highway, we were stopped and told, that due to a local festival, the road is blocked off, and we have to go down an alternative route. Well, disheartened a bit, we followed that road, and soon was informed that Torna was out of the question. The distance had increased by a lot more than we could have hoped to cover on that day. So it was at that moment, that we changed our destination to Rajgad, the capital during Shivaji's reign.
Rest of it is still fresh in our minds.... not putting it on paper tho. We reached there, and had a good day's trip out of it!
